Squeeze Page:
This part of a
website
, or often only a single page website, with the only
purpose of collecting the email address of a visitor and making
him subscribe to a mailing
list.
Mostly this is done by offering a strong incentive with a
high perceived value for the visitor. This might be a free
ebook, software, a audio- or video-file or a free course
delivered by email. The visitor is supposed to enter his name
and email address and is then given access to a download page
where he can get his free gift. Often there is an intervening
confirmation step to make sure no spamming occurs (see under
entry Double
opt-in).

Example of a Squeeze Page offering a free
e-course as an incentive for the visitor to
subscribe.
[Squeeze
is of unknown origin,
probably imitative;
Page
comes from
Latin pagina
= a column of writing,
akin to pangere
= to fix, make
fast]
