Offline Advertising:

Using advertising resources of the real rather than the virtual marketing world like newspapers, billboards, flyers, radio and TV spots etc. Offline Advertising can be very effective, even for Internet marketers promoting their websites, especially when one is targeting a local public. But only very few marketers are using this resource.

The biggest difference to online advertising is that it is more effort for the user to arrive at the advertised website because he cannot only click a link as in online ads. Instead he has to memorize the web address has to go online and then type it into the browser address bar. Hence, less visitors can be expected compared to online ads but the conversion rates  can be expected to be much higher because if a user is willing to undertake all this actions to visit the site he must be really interested.

[Off- is an emphatic form of “of ” meaning “away from”;

Line comes from Old English line = rope and Latin linea = linen thread, string, line]

Advertisement goes back to Latin advertere = to pay attention to]
