Link Popularity:

A website’s Link Popularity mainly refers to the number of link s to and from the site. According to SEO experts it is the main factor which search engines use to estimate the relevancy of a website for a given keyword or search phrase. Every search engine develops it’s own mathematical algorithm to determine Link Popularity. The following factors enter into the calculation:

  • The number of incoming links from related sites very strongly weighed by the importance of the site linking to you (e.g. for Google the PageRankTM).

  • The number of outgoing links to other related sites

  • The internal links from one page to another within a website

  • The link text (anchor text )

[Link comes from Old Danish lænkia = chain;

Popularity comes from Latin popularis = belonging to the people, populus = people]
