Income Stream:
An Income Stream means that
there is income flowing in from a specific income generating
activity.
Most marketing gurus
advise to generate
multiple streams of income, i.e. engaging in several different
activities each generating a separate income stream. The idea
behind is that if there should be a sudden stop or slump in one
stream the other streams are there to compensate the loss or
make it at least less painful.
The Internet provides ample opportunities to create several
Income Streams. There is affiliate
marketing (marketing different
product
s from different
niches
would already qualify as multiple
streams), Google
AdSense, CPA
offers, selling goods on
eBay
or via one’s own
website
, becoming a ghost writer for
salescopy or web content
, mentoring activities, creating
a membership
site etc. to only name a few. Of
course, offline activities as e.g. keeping one’s regular
dayjob as well as financial investing would count here as
well.
There is, however, a danger in
the quest for multiple Income Streams. That is to have too many
irons in the fire and doing a little in every activity but
nothing effective in any of them and therefore none is
generating real income even after considerable investment of
time and efforts.
The most successful way in striving for multiple income streams
seems to be, to concentrate on
oneand focusing all one’s efforts on this one until
it reaches a state of providing stable and adequate
income. After having reached a point where this activity
will remain so without requiring additional attention and
work one then can shift focus to another
activity.
